Hoppscotch vs Postman

Postman charges per-seat, per-month. Hoppscotch is open source and self-hosted.

The short answer

For sending requests and sharing a collection, Hoppscotch does the job at zero per-seat cost. Postman still wins if your team leans on its collaboration and mock-server features.

Pick Hoppscotch when

  • You are paying per seat mostly so people can send HTTP requests.
  • You want it self-hosted, or usable without an account.
  • Your API testing lives in CI anyway, not in a GUI.

Stay with Postman when

  • You depend on shared workspaces, mocks or monitors.
  • Your team is large enough that the collaboration features are the product.

The migration cost nobody mentions

Collections import, but scripts and environment tricks often need hand-fixing. Try importing your largest collection before you cancel anything.

We deliberately do not quote Postman's prices — third-party pricing changes without notice and a stale number is worse than none. The pricing model is what determines whether self-hosting wins, and that is stated above. Check current pricing with the vendor.
